Facts: Our client, GH, hired us to help him fight against a preliminary determination from the staff of the Texas Board of Law Examiners that he lacked the character and fitness to be licensed as an attorney in Texas. Already a well-respected and skilled lawyer in several other jurisdictions, GH hired us to defend his reputation and demonstrate to the Board that he met the requirements for licensure in Texas.
Outcome: The firm consulted with the client to understand the facts in his case and then gathered the evidence needed for the client’s upcoming character and fitness hearing before a panel of Board members. The firm prepared the client and his witnesses to testify before the Panel. At the hearing, the evidence and testimony were so compelling that the staff attorney changed his recommendation to the Panel, asking them to find that GH does have the character and fitness for licensure. As a result, the client won the case, and the Panel issued an order that GH has the character and fitness for a Texas law license.
